The Cloven Tongue of Fire Came Down!

So, one day at the campus fellowship, an external pastor had come to preach in place of the main pastor. Towards the end of the service, he said, “The Holy Spirit is telling me that if you are here, you are born again, but you have not received the baptism of the Holy Ghost by way of speaking in tongue, come out now and the Spirit of God will come upon you and you shall speak in tongues!” Before he could finish the last sentence I was already in front of him at the altar. I had waited so long for this that I cared less about the shame. He started ministering from line to line, praying and laying hands on each one to receive the baptism of the Holy Spirit. As soon as he laid hands on me, he said “Take a step of faith and speak whatever is coming to your mind now. It won’t make sense, that is the Holy Ghost” Boom! I opened my mouth and tongues started flowing out. Later I realised the practical truth in the scripture that says, “Open your mouth wide and I will fill it” in Psalms 81:10.

I was filled with the Holy Ghost! I started speaking it. It started with few words and increased gradually. Well, it was still “shuby-shuby” or “baby” tongues. A story for another day on how I coveted gifts to speak in diverse tongues as well as interpretation of tongues. The Holy Ghost gave them all to me, plus other gifts.

One challenge down – I can speak in tongues now! Next challenge was to hear Him. I continued seeking Him in the morning to fellowship with Him. It was getting better. I could sing more songs to worship Him. I could speak in my baby tongue to pray to Him.
