From 360 meters above sea level, the vessel rose swiftly into the sky, towering over the monstrous clouds, the violent storm, and the raging wind. The cabin was completely silent as we eagerly awaited the seat belt sign to go off. Through the flashing lights and fiery clouds, the plane ascended to an altitude where there is tranquility, above the normal atmospheric disturbances. The further a vehicle travels, the quieter the atmosphere around it becomes. There are no earthly atmospheric sounds, gravity, or anything else in space.

In the same way, metaphorically speaking, man (and by this I mean both men and women) is designed to soar above the turbulence of life and soar far above the din (a loud, unpleasant and prolonged noise). Completely free from fear and misery, illness and disease, and far from earth’s curses. Flying on the eternal Wind’s wings. Man is to subdue the earth, multiply, and replenish it while on earth. And rise above its noises to live a life of fulfillment.

However, trouble arose a few thousand years ago. Man has certainly invented more than ever before. The entire planet resembles a chaotic stage with many actors and actresses. There are sounds everywhere on stage. But despite all this, man can seek out the Creator. If you don’t believe in God, I hope you don’t miss out on eternity. You may have the opportunity to accept Him as your Lord and Savior at the door of death. Remember this as your last chance to narrowly avoid eternal damnation. You can read more about how to find the Way to God by clicking here. And the same applies to you, my friend, if you believe you are on the right path apart from Jesus.

The power of the Lord was present

This year, I spoke with a gentleman and inquired about his faith. He did not hesitate to describe Jesus’ significance to him. He stated, “I love Jesus because he was an honorable man!” Well then, I appreciate his compliments for the Lord. I told him that Jesus is God! He affirmatively nodded with a tone of sarcasm. I was not disturbed. Our conversation continued without direction. There was nothing I said that he did not acknowledge from the perspective of his own faith.

I said, Lord, I need to change this direction. I challenged him – I know you don’t believe all I’m saying. But do you know that Jesus came to die, resurrect and give eternal and power to whosoever believes in Him? His power is always present with those that are His.He admitted slyly to avoid confrontation. I wasn’t perturbed. I desired within me that the Lord would make this man to know Him. I asked to pray for him. He accepted.

I bowed my head and said in my heart, “Lord Jesus, manifest Your power in this hour to show to this man that You are Lord and not like any other. I began to pray a simple prayer and in no time, my guest began to quiver and held his grip so tight as though something was going to rip his fingers apart. I watched as he came under a strong power of the Lord. All eyes closed and he was overwhelmed with that presence of the Lord.

Seeing what had come over him, I held his hands. The power of God soaked him up. He was awed. Beyond the deceitfulness of life and the pride of life, he was humbled by the atmosphere that is beyond his. The atmosphere of the Eternal King manifested around him and he met the Lord instantly. The noise around him was silenced.

After the prayer, I looked at him and he looked at me. His expression showed the Lord of lords had touched him. I gently asked, Do you believe now? Do you want to accept Him as your Lord and Saviour? He nodded gently and affirmatively. He was born again and filled with the Holy Spirit that He previously did not want. He was sobered up. I was too. He rose from the chair to leave and turned back to shake my hand. And said, “Thank you.” Well, I replied him, “It is not me. It is the Lord. The Holy Spirit did it.”

He was touched by the Lord Jesus. Beyond the earthly noises, beyond the voices; beyond the charade of life, the Most High poured out Himself to mankind. He held nothing back. He gave all. He is Love of all ages.

And us

Now, to many of us who met the Lord recently, perhaps even yesterday. Are you immersed in earthly sounds or in the atmosphere of the Lord? Because of life’s problems, the earth is far too chatty. Religious and political noise; war and crime; disease and pestilence. Even your own gadgets. You’re always trying to game the system, to get one over on someone. You’ve turned it into a survival of the fittest race.

Friends, remember what the Lord Jesus said in the parable of the sower whose seeds fell on thorny ground. The Lord explained that this thorny ground is one “who hears the Word, but the cares of the world and the pleasure and delight and glamour and deceitfulness of riches choke and suffocate the Word, and it yields no fruit.” Matthew 13:22. When you have time, you can read my earlier post on the parable of a sower by clicking here.

In that verse above, the Lord mentioned three things, 1) cares of this world; 2) the pleasure and delight and glamour; and 3) deceitfulness of riches. The cares of this world is a big earthly noise that drowns away the consciousness of God’s Word from many people’s minds. The Lord said in Matthew 6:25-34, do not worry about your life, what you will eat or drink; or about your body, what you will wear. Is not life more important than food, and the body more important than clothes?” It means there is a potential to worry.

What to do

The cares of the world scream so loudly in front of us. How can we reduce the volume of this massive loudspeaker? Commit everything to the Lord. We must come to the realization in our lives that we can do nothing of eternal value unless the Lord is brought into it by you asking Him. He doesn’t want to force you, but He does want you to submit to Him. He is always with us and in us, but many do not recognize Him. He was sent to assist us on this planet in navigating the path of life. It is his responsibility to guide us.

Do you acknowledge Him in all that you do? Do you give Him the opportunity to lead you? Do you bring your concerns to Him? How long do you want to give them to Him? Are you acting on His words in faith? You’ll tell me you do, but get no results. Do you still believe in Him? What’s taking so long? You inquired. Your heart craves it so badly. They could even be legitimate needs.

Let me tell you: there are many times it looks as if nothing is happening in your life, but I can tell you that many things are happening invisibly that you may not see. The invisible controls the visible. Let Him help you. Let Him lead you in the direction you should go. The Lord says in Psalm 32:8, “I will instruct you and teach you in the way you should go; I will guide you with My eye.” Whao! What a great assurance! So let Him lead you. His Hands are not too short to help (Isaiah 59:1).

You might ask, “How?” The simple answer is to read God’s promises concerning that situation and to spend quiet time pondering those promises in your mind. Allow your mind to interact with the truth that is embedded in it. Consider whether the One who said those things is a liar or the eternal Truth. God is not a man that He should lie! Number 23:19. Make His promises your own. Declare them to yourself. Ask the Holy Spirit to guide you in doing whatever you need to do. Return the scriptures to Him in prayer. Speak in tongues constantly, praising the Father.

Tarry there. Abraham did not stagger at the promise of God, but giving glory to God. Romans 4:20-21 expressly told us: “Abraham staggered not at the promise of God through unbelief; but was strong in faith, giving glory to God; And being fully persuaded that, what he had promised, he was able also to perform.”

Thanking Him and praising Him before the physical manifestation is very essential. Whenever that issue or that situation overwhelms you, let your lips utter praises to the Lord. Just say, Father, I thank you because Your promises are yes and yes. I thank You because You are mindful of me. Your Words concerning me on this matter is sure. Though my whole being yearns for the manifestation now, I will trust in You to bring it to pass. I trust in You to lead me to the right direction for this to manifest.

Let’s not forget also that the Lord Jesus mentioned pleasure and deceitfulness of riches in that Matthew 13:22. Don’t gloss it over. Do you want those things so that you can have more bragging right? Do you want them so that you can consume them upon your lust? Look at what the Holy Spirit spoke through Apostle James in James 4: 2-4, You lust and do not have. You murder and covet and cannot obtain. You fight and war. Yet you do not have because you do not ask. You ask and do not receive, because you ask amiss, that you may spend it on your pleasures. Adulterers and adulteresses! Do you not know that friendship with the world is enmity with God? Whoever therefore wants to be a friend of the world makes himself an enemy of God.”

Let’s examine them one by one:

  • You lust and do not have: Is your need out of lust of the flesh or lust of the eye? Do you want those things so that you can consume them upon yourself? Ask within you – why do I want this so much? Is there anything in you that will make you divert the use for selfish purpose?
  • You murder and covet and cannot obtain: Let me tell you that once you read the murder part, your mind automatically switches over to the next verse because you will say to yourself, “This does not apply to me because I’m not a murderer.” The enemy wants you to miss the important point there. The Holy Spirit, through Apostle John, says in 1 John 3:15, “Whoever hates his brother is a murderer, and you know that no murderer has eternal life abiding in him…” That applies to sister as well. Amen! So, you can then say that If I hate my brother or my sister, and covet, I cannot obtain. That is what the scripture means. So, do you desperately hate the gut of your brother or sister? Do you covet what he or she has? The scripture says, you cannot obtain. Think about it. You can repent and the Lord will forgive you and cleanse you from all unrighteous thoughts.
  • You fight and war, yet you do not have: This is interesting. Many do not even ask what they want. The Lord Jesus said in John 14:14, “Whatsoever you shall ask in My name, I will do it.” Do you ask Him?
  • You ask and do not receive, because you ask amiss, that you may spend it on your pleasures: You see here again, the emphasis on consuming it upon our pleasures. Do you want it so that you can show it off? Do you want it so that you can brag on it? Do you want it so that you can leverage it for your advantage? The Lord says, “You ask amiss because you want to spend it on your pleasures.” It will not bring glory to Him but to yourself. When people see you, they will hail you and you will suck it in. You desire to be in the limelight for a wrong reason. You can check within yourself why you want it so much.

Conclusion

Let me conclude. The Lord Jesus said something profound in John 15:7, “If you abide in Me, and My words abide in you, you will ask what you desire, and it shall be done for you.”

If His words abide in you! If you abide in His words. If His words are the rail guards of everything you do, then you will ask according to His words that are abiding in you. When you want to ask for anything that is laden with covetousness or earthly pleasure, His words in you will check you, The words will correct you internally. His words will spotlight what is wrong in your requests. And immediately, you will align again with His words and ask right.

Shut out the noise for a while. Can you? You need help from the raging storm of life. It doesn’t have to be expensive. If you will follow my advice, you will see storm turns to sunshine.

Abide in His words. Put His words inside you daily! Study! Study!! Read the new testament where all His promises after the death and resurrection of the Lord are. Study! You cannot ask Him correctly without knowing what His words say concerning it. Or asking the Holy Spirit to guide you.

Deaden the noise with His words and worship ascending to Him on high!
