Are You Alive?

Well, I know you are puzzled at that topic. Not to worry. Just follow me, even if you muttered to yourself, “What type of question is that?” There is something serious we need to talk about here. As long as you are reading this, you are physically alive. Maybe spiritually as well if you are born again in Christ. Glory be to God! But I’m not referring to just physical life, but to another life. I’m referring to a particular kind of life that never ends even if you die physically here on earth. The kind of life that only Jesus gives.

I was once preaching to a young man that believed so much in this life. He’s living his life. Like some says, “Let me enjoy my life please?” I asked him, “What happens to a man that is seen yesterday walking up and down, jumping and running, but found dead the next day? His body lying flat and motionless before people! What is the difference between him of yesterday full of life but motionless the next day? What has left him? Where has he gone to? Is there any hope for him in the life after?” He was speechless.

Well, that is where I’m going. There is something that keeps man and woman alive on this earth. It is like a car moving around with the power from a battery. When the battery is dead, the car stops moving until you put another battery in it. Man keeps breathing and living on this earth because there is a spirit in man that God the Almighty put there. Man is spirit with a soul living in a body. When a man or woman dies, the spirit and soul go back to God.

Maybe we should look at it this way. At some point in our lives, we did not know anything. But as we grew gradually, we became conscious of our environment. Did you ever wonder, “What am I doing here? What is this thing in the sky? Who put it there? What is this flesh?”

You just came to a realization that you are a human being put on the earth and born of a mother (you never witnessed that anyway) and you have a father. You became conscious of you as a human being. The struggle starts.

You realized there is a Deity called God! As you grew up, you heard (still hear) it everywhere. As your days grow, you begin to realize that you are aging gradually. You became aware that you are going to leave the earth one day, irrespective of the amount of wealth you have or the degree of poverty you have experienced. No matter how famous you are. Or how influential you are. No matter how successful you are. Or how much failure you have experienced in life. No matter the good life you live.

My question for you is: where will your spirit and soul spend eternity after death? You might say you don’t know. Or you might even say, “Of course with God.” If your answer is the former (that is, you don’t know or not sure), you need to look deep inside of you. Do you think you are going to just disappear into nothing? Look deep. Where will eternity be for you?

Look inside of you. Search your conscience. Where will you spend eternity? In God’s presence, of course!

I like your affirmation. But if yours is not as convincing as that it must be because you are sincere. You are being true to yourself. You look at everything you have done till date and you do not think you will get a good judgement or you think you need more time. Even if you are not as bad as others, you still feel inadequate. It is not solely your fault. But God has sent help to you and I. It depends on whether you want it or not.

Remember, the One we will all return to one day is a Holy God. He is a Righteous God. If He should mark sins, no one can stand before Him. He is too holy to behold sins else He would be like us. He looks away from sins. His Eyes are too holy to behold iniquities. He is a Holy God. He made us in His likeness and image. His nature He put in men and women. The Holy God created us to worship Him; to fellowship with Him.
Having His nature in us makes men and women to yearn for a Deity that is all powerful. In the darkest moments of your life, you have yearned for a supernatural intervention from somewhere. You have looked up and wished the Invisible Being up there will help you.

Because Satan came to the earth and deceived the first man and woman, he changed the course of man (I use this in general sense for men and women). He turned (and still turning) men and women away from God. But Christ came that we might be reconciled to the Father.

You have tried all you possibly could to make it right, but you have plunged deeper and deeper. And you give up on trying. You just blend in. “If it is church, we will go now. No problem in that,” you might have said before. It is more than that, my friend. You need to make up with God. Life can’t continue like this. It is dangerous! You need to come back to God. You need to accept Jesus into your life. You must be born again. You need to ask yourself, “Where will I spend my eternity?” Are you sure of your answer?

At this point, if you are not, you need to come to the Lord Jesus. He is the Only Way to God the Father. He is the Only One that can give you that eternal life. So that your eternity is secured in Him. So that He can lead you in life. Don’t pass through life not knowing Him. It is dangerous.

Jesus said in John 3:5, “Except a man or woman be born again, he cannot enter the kingdom of God.”

But how can a man born again. Well, friends, it is simple. I will put you through. Follow me. After the fall of man, the Righteous God sent Jesus to the earth. He came, lived on the earth but never sinned. He was anointed by the Father with the Holy Spirit and He went about doing good and healing all that were oppressed of the devil for God was with Him. Acts 10:38. He went about preaching and teaching about the kingdom of God. He came to tell us to reconcile with God and become His children; and in the process escape eternal judgement. He revealed the Father to us.
The One (that is Jesus) without sin was arrested, beaten, stripped naked, crucified on the cross. While dying, He cried out loud, “Father forgive them for they know not what they are doing.” Luke 23:34.

Just as you never knew, He prayed for your forgiveness and mine. He died, not because He sinned. The Father put your sins and mine on Him, even though you were not yet born at that time. He made provision for you to come back to God. He died on the cross. Because of the sins of humanity put on Him by the Father, He went to hell.

He carried your sins and mine on Him and descended to hell. The One that never sinned went to hell for you and I to pay the wages of mankind’s sins. What a great love! He went down to the territory of Satan and his evil angels. But the Father looked down; after He was satisfied that Jesus had paid all the price for our sins within that three days in Hell, the Father raised Him. The Lord Jesus stood up in hell from eternal death He suffered briefly. He received power from the Father. He overcame the evil angel of death. Hell shook. He overpowered Satan and all the evil angels; the principalities, powers and dominions. Never had that happened in hell. By the authority of the Father, while in Hell, He triumphed over principalities and powers. According to Colossians 2:15, “Jesus made a public spectacle of all the powers and principalities of darkness, stripping away from them every weapon and all their spiritual authority and power to accuse us. And by the power of the cross, Jesus led them around as prisoners in a procession of triumph. He was not their prisoner; they were His!” (The Passion Translation). This happened for real in hell.

He did that for you and I. He made Satan and His evil angels to become His prisoners for you and I.

“He stripped all the spiritual tyrants in the universe of their sham authority at the Cross and marched them naked through the streets. (Message version). Jesus marched them naked through the streets of hell! Just because of you. Yes, He did that for you and I. Jesus marched them naked through the streets of hell. He did for you and I.

On the cross, He took away the power of the bad spirits that have authority to rule people. He showed clearly that He Himself has won against them. Now everyone can see that those bad spirits have no power. (Easy version).

Finally, on the third day, He rose from the dead after such glorious triumph over Satan and his cohorts. He paid the price for our sins that prevented us from coming to God.

He paved the way for mankind to come back to the Father. He became the Lamb of God that took away your sins. John 1:29

Friends, your Maker does not want you to be cast into the lake of fire. He wants you to make a decision not to go there. Don’t go there! It is not meant for you. He has made provision for your sins. First, you need to know that. He paid it all. Salvation is now free, but you must act. You must accept Him willingly into your heart. He will not force you.

Now if you “feel” in your heart like “I want this Jesus.”

“I’m sorrowful for all that I have done. I want to come back to God.”

You are almost there. Remember, He came for you. He died for you. He suffered for you. He conquered for you. He rose for you. He is with God now for you. There is no other way by which a man or woman can be saved from eternal judgement except through the name of Jesus. Except through accepting Him as your Lord and Saviour. You cannot save yourself. No, you cannot! Now is the day that you can sincerely and boldly in the privacy of your room or wherever you are, come to Him now and accept Him.

You only need to believe all you have been reading and confess with your mouth that He is your Lord and Saviour. I believe you are ready. Read below.

Lord Jesus, I believe in my heart all You did for me. I believe that You came in the flesh, lived and died for my sins. You took my sins with You. You rose and forever living at the right Hand of the Father in heaven. Thank You for doing all these for me. Thank You for forgiving me all my sins. You are now my Lord and my Saviour. Thank you Father. I am born again. And from this day, my life is now lived according to Your will. In Jesus name I prayed. Amen.

That is it. You will know deep deep inside you that you now have peace with God. You are now born again. It is supernatural. You are now in the Kingdom of God. No more with Satan. Glory be to God!

Next Steps

I rejoice with you friends. Welcome to the Kingdom of God. You are now a child of God, no longer the child of the devil. You are in Christ and all things is new to you. New slate as though you never sinned. You are now righteous in God. You are no longer a sinner by nature.
Please find a Bible believing church and go there. Tell them you just accepted Christ as your Lord and Saviour and you will like to go through a new believer foundation class to learn more about Jesus and your new rights as a child of God.

“For God made Christ, who never sinned, to be the offering for our sin, so that we could be made right with God through Christ.” 2 Corinthians 5:21. That is your nature now.

Pray in your heart that God direct you to a Bible believing church and start a new believer foundation so that they can tell you more about Christ.

Secondly, you need to be baptized in the Holy Spirit with evidence of speaking in tongues. Because you need the power of the Holy Spirit to be in you so that you can stand against Satan and his cohorts in the authority and power of Jesus Christ.

Don’t fear the devil anymore. Colossians 1:13 says of you that God has rescued you from the kingdom of darkness and transferred you into the Kingdom of His dear Son. And you He made alive unto God. Now you are alive unto God.

Are You Alive?

Once you are born again, Yes, you are alive!
Ephesians 2:1 to 10 says:
“¹And you He made alive, who were dead in trespasses and sins, ²in which you once walked according to the course of this world, according to the prince of the power of the air, the spirit who now works in the sons of disobedience, ³among whom also we all once conducted ourselves in the lusts of our flesh, fulfilling the desires of the flesh and of the mind, and were by nature children of wrath, just as the others. ⁴But God, who is rich in mercy, because of His great love with which He loved us, ⁵even when we were dead in trespasses, made us alive together with Christ (by grace you have been saved), ⁶and raised us up together, and made us sit together in the heavenly places in Christ Jesus, ⁷that in the ages to come He might show the exceeding riches of His grace in His kindness toward us in Christ Jesus. ⁸For by grace you have been saved through faith, and that not of yourselves; it is the gift of God, ⁹not of works, lest anyone should boast. ¹⁰For we are His workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand that we should walk in them.”

Think on that always. That is the only way you know you are alive. Once you are alive unto God, you find it difficult to walk according to the course of this world; you have power to resist the Satanic power that influences people to do bad things; you mortify the evil deeds of the flesh. Well, for you who have been born again since, the above scripture is also for you. Continue to walk in the paths of the Lord. You are His workmanship.
