When we read about the heroes of faith in the Old Testament, they all had one thing in common; they believed God!

I want to draw your attention to one of them whom we all quote and really amazed at the feats he accomplished in life despite being in captivity. The man – Daniel.

In Hebrews 11 roll call of Heroes of Faith, Daniel’s name was not mentioned expressly but grouped with prophets. Not because he was insignificant – far from it. But because there would be not enough time on earth for the writer of Hebrews to write everything. Go to Hebrews Chapter 11 verses 32 to 33.

“And what more shall I say? For the time would fail me to tell of Gideon and Barak and Samson and Jephthah, also of David and Samuel and the prophets: who through faith subdued kingdoms, worked righteousness, obtained promises, stopped the mouths of lions

Now I have highlighted the above passage for emphasis of where I’m heading. Daniel, like one of the prophets, subdued the evil kingdoms of his time through faith. He stopped the mouths of lions BY FAITH. He did exploits in the Babylonian, Median and Persian kingdoms through faith. He exemplified what we must do in our time.

God Showed Up

There was a conspiracy against Daniel because of his devotion to God. By reason of that, the conspirators moved King Darius to decree a law that would cause anybody that sought God within 30 days to be fed to lions. Daniel sought God and was thrown into the den of lions. But the lions did not eat Daniel. That was a miracle! But what really happened? What did Daniel do? What made God to show up for Daniel?

Go to Hebrews 6:23, “Then the king was exceedingly glad and commanded that Daniel should be taken up out of the den. So Daniel was taken up out of the den, and no hurt of any kind was found on him BECAUSE HE BELIEVED IN (relied on, adhered to, and trusted in) HIS GOD.

Daniel believed God. Let no man tell you otherwise. Daniel trusted in God. He relied on God. Everything Daniel did in the kingdoms of Babylon, Media and Persia stemmed out of faith in God. When he prayed to God, he believed God would answer. When he faced challenges and prayed to God, he believed God would show up for him.

Friends,  “…without faith it is impossible to please and be satisfactory to Him. For whoever would come near to God must [necessarily] believe that God exists and that He is the rewarder of those who earnestly and diligently seek Him [out].” Hebrews 11:6

Without faith, you cannot please God. It is impossible to please Him. Without faith in what He has said and you believing that even if the whole earth be washed away, that which He has spoken will still be fulfilled, then you cannot receive from Him.

The Father wants you and I to believe Him for whatever He has spoken to you in His words. We cannot receive from God except we believe that He will do whatever He spoke/speaks to us in His words. Else we call Him a liar! He is not a liar!

According to scriptures, “He who believes in the Son of God has the witness in himself; he who does not believe God has made Him a liar, because he has not believed the testimony that God has given of His Son.” I John‬ ‭5‬:‭10

God the Father honors His words above His name. Psalm 138:2.

The clock of the earth will try to take away your attention; and make you wonder why it is taking time to get answers to what you have prayed or confessed. As the clock ticks away, you start panicking.

You begin to wonder if your prayers are heard by God. You start to reason it out on why they’re not yet answered. You fault your prayer points; you fault your understanding; you fault someone; you fault a system; you fault yourself; you fault God. You shout, Oh God! When will you answer me? When will you do this thing for me? Why are you not helping me? Your cry is right before your Father in heaven.

The Father is pleased when we take Him by His Words. Even in that agony, when we tell Him, I believe what your words say concerning me on this matter, I know I want it so badly to be done in my life. I know I have waited for so long. My soul agonizes for fulfillment. My mind wants to doubt if this will ever come through, BUT I won’t call you a liar because that is not in Your Character. All I have read in the Bible gave evidences of Your faithfulness. My case is not too hard that You cannot do it. I judge You faithful and I know You will do it as You have said. I thank You that You have done it and I know in no time it will manifest. Thank You. In the name of Jesus I prayed to You.

Well, it is not a prayer formula. It is just a sincere way I will speak to My Father when I’m going through that phase.

Eve If You Are Faithless…

Even if you remain faithless, guess what? He is faithful. 2 Timothy 2:13. He can still do it out of His great Mercy. But you don’t want to bank on that all the time. You must grow to trust His words.

Children get what they need even when they do not have faith in their parents. But a time comes when that child will have to observe and learn the character of his/her parents, and make judgement of that in placing his/her requests before them. S/he begins to walk by faith and great confidence with his/her parents.

If you are still new in the Lord, you will get His miraculous provision in your life, but don’t stop there! Please don’t! You need to know His Character through His words in the Bible. You need to trust that what He says, He will do. HE DOESN’T LIE!!! He can never lie. He is faithful and trustworthy. When He spoke His promises, He swore by Himself like saying If My words do not come to pass, I shall cease to be God in heavens and earth. Can you imagine that!

Friends, He will show up for you! Don’t you loose your mind! Stop right there! Don’t dig yourself too deep into that hole of depression. Get back up! Come back up here!

Let me show you that He is still with you. Don’t you dare loose sight of that! I know the pain can be far too much on your soul and body, but the help has come! The healing has come! You can reach out now. You can receive it! You can rest in His abiding love. You can say to Him right now, Father, in the name of Jesus, I receive (put whatever you are believing Him for in there). I receive it in Jesus name. I do not doubt in my heart. Lord Jesus, You said whatsoever I ask in Your name, You will do it (John 14:13-14). So I ask for this in Your name.

Apostle Paul said in 2 Timothy 2:10, “Therefore I [am ready to] persevere and stand my ground with patience and endure everything…”

Okay! He concluded in verse 12 of the same chapter saying,  If we endure, we shall also reign with Him. Why and where? Because we, all His children, who have “receive(d) abundance of grace and of the gift of righteousness will reign in life through the One, Jesus Christ” Romans 5:17 (AMPC)

And after you have suffered a little while, the God of all grace [Who imparts all blessing and favor], Who has called you to His [own] eternal glory in Christ Jesus, will Himself complete and make you what you ought to be, establish and ground you securely, and strengthen, and settle you.” 1 Peter 5:10 (AMPC)

What To Do While Waiting

Let those scriptures above sink into you.

God is not slack concerning His promises. No! Remember, while you are waiting for days or weeks or months or years, keep knowing more about Him. Engage in fruitful activities that will draw you more and more to Him. Start a foundation class afresh or Bible school, if you can, to relearn more about Him.

Volunteer your time and resources to bless the needy and less privileged. Distribute to the ones in need.

Use your gifts and talents for Him. Tell all that cares to hear about Jesus.

Win souls for Him.

Distract yourself from focusing on the earthly clock that sinks you to the pit of depression, anxiety and worries. Take hold of your mind – command it to listen to the word of God.

Mind, we have no option here. We have to wait for the Father to manifest it by His Spirit. As your knowledge of Him increases, the grace to ascend more and more into your authority comes upon you. You begin to exercise the authority in that the Lord Jesus gave to us. You begin to see close you are to manifestation.

Let me tell you something: as you move farther and farther into Him, nothing on this earth thrills your heart as before. His Presence overwhelms you, The goodness and the sweetness of His fellowship inundate (saturate) your whole being. His glory radiates like sun out of your being. You might not even be aware of it.

I encourage you to read these posts I made few months ago on the Sweetness of the Lord. Click here to read it. There is another one I wrote on being Consumed by the presence of the Lord. Click here to read it as well.

Friends, as He draws you closer than before, your heart (spirit) will feed on honey in His presence. You will experience His words. He will enlighten your mind and spirit with His words as you study the Bible.

“But whenever someone turns to the Lord, the veil is taken away. For the Lord is the Spirit, and wherever the Spirit of the Lord is, there is freedom. So all of us who have had that veil removed can see and reflect the glory of the Lord.” 2 Corinthians 3:16-18

Don’t let the signs and troubles of today, drag you away from Him. Have faith in His words. Trust Him to do it. And He will cause you both to will and do of His good pleasure in Christ Jesus. Philippians 2:13
