Let me start by saying that what I’m about to share had nothing to do with my ability whatsoever. The Lord Jesus did it. And all the glory belongs to Him and the God the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, from whom the whole family in heaven and earth is named.

So let’s go. Yesterday (25 January) was my birthday. It was a different kind. I haven’t seen it like this before. The wishes and prayers from family and friends were lavishly exhausted. My appreciation to all. The icing on the cake was my visit to an orphanage as my custom is.

This orphanage (which I have never been to) is located on the outskirt of the city in which I live – 40 minutes drive from where I live. Outskirt? Yes, because few weeks ago, I perceived in my spirit that the Lord wanted me to go to the outskirt location. Off we went!

At the orphanage, the serenity was welcoming. There were no children to greet us because they had all gone to school. So, it looked like I wasn’t going to stay long. Well, so I thought. Offloaded the gifts and somehow engaged the sister who received us and started briefing us.

“All the children have gone to school,” she started, “they are usually free on weekends.”

“Okay” I replied.

“Here we manage orphans, mentally sick, homeless…” She continued.

“I beg your pardon! Mentally sick? In an orphanage? That’s new.” So I thought within me.

“Can we see them?” I suddenly asked without thinking twice about it. Where did that come from? What am I going to do with them? Why did I want to see them?

Well, there was this an unusual boldness within me. It was like, “Well, if we can’t see the children to pray with, we will pray with the mentally ill ones. We can’t just drop gifts and go? Noooo! That is incomplete.”

They brought them out, men and women, even a young boy. The sight of them made me sad and sober, looking at them. They were out of their minds. Let me tell you; you have no idea what it means when you say, “someone is out of his/her mind”. Just go to mental homes, you will grasp the picture immediately.

Seeing them, I said in my heart, “Lord, I have never done this before. Never! What do I do now? Where do I start? I know You said in Your name, I shall cast out demons. Lay hands on the sick and they shall recover in Mark 16: 17 -18. I’m going to do so according to Your words.” While thinking on that and beholding their sight before me, they were gathered into a small hall.

They were all looking aimlessly. I had no idea what was going on in their minds. I took off! Talking as slowly as I could about Jesus. I’m not sure they even understood what in the world I was saying.

Well, I was already by the river. On fire! No going back. The tangible presence of the Holy Spirit manifested. It’s time to pray for them. Oh Lord! One by one, we prayed for them. Laid hands on them. Exercising the authority according to the Word. Listening and yielding to the Holy Spirit. The Lord showed up!

One lady that had no mind of her own jumped to her feet towards me and by the word of knowledge, the Lord said, “She is ready by faith.” Really? But she’s insane! Well, I yielded and I held her hands in a prayer of agreement. That’s strange! But she was responding to the prayers as we prayed. Suddenly, the power of God flowed into her. She was healed.

Also, many others received the touch of God. I remember one particular lady among them that the word of knowledge came for and she smiled (even in her insane state). After much persuasion in the Holy Ghost, she decided to remain calm and somehow yielded her mind – it was a window of opportunity. I perceived she opened her spirit to receive and the Lord said, “Her mind is open. Lead her to me.” I did. After the confession, we began to pray for her and many strange fellows began screaming as they left her body. And the power of the Lord Jesus drove them out.

Well, it goes without saying that I got a good and deliberate spitting of saliva on my face twice by one under palsy. It’s okay!

There were three of them that vehemently refused to even mention the name of Jesus, but they eventually yielded calmly and soberly to the name of Jesus. And the Lord said to my spirit, “They are ready, Lead them to Me.” I did. Their countenance changed and healing was ministered to them. They opened their eyes and were so calm and radiant (this is want people said to me after all things). They walked off looking at themselves like something had happened to them. Well, yes! Something happened to them. It’s the Lord.

It’s as if He, an invisible Lord, moved around touching them as I laid hands on them. Atmosphere charged like fire.

One middle aged man was restored instantly to his senses. Accepted the life of Jesus. The next statement that came out of his mouth was, “When am I leaving here? What am I even doing here? What is the next thing I need to do?” Whao! I was stunned. I explained to him the Lord has begun a good work in him. Firstly, he needs to know what the Lord has just done for him and how to stay healed. How to study the Word and confess it to himself daily. That took another 30 to 40 minutes of talking to him. I later handed him two books titled “The New Birth” and “In Him” by Brother Kenneth E. Hagin. Glory to God. Surely, there will be follow-up.

Well, let me say, I’m not a pastor. Neither do I have a church. Nor do I plan to establish one. Nor the Lord leading me to do any. I’m an entrepreneur and I build software for a living. But whenever the Lord Jesus prompts me to preach, I yield. And I have seen His presence manifesting to bless people.

I love the fellowship of the Holy Spirit. I love the Father. And I love the Master. Their thoughts and the wonder of their Hands amaze me. Just desirous to please Them. I want to be in Them and Them in me at all times. And I know that His glory will cover the earth as water covers the sea.

I want to thank all that sent their birthday wishes and prayers. The Lord was glorified with the orphanage visit. My faith was strengthened in the Lord Jesus. And He alone deserves all the glory for the diverse healings, restoration of mind to few of them, salvation of their souls. I give all glory to the Lord.

You also reading this can do same for the Lord. Yes, you can! You never know until you step out. I did and I saw the power of the One that is in me far greater than all the devils inhabiting many of them. Three restored mentally and gave their lives to Christ. Some healed and we believe God to complete the restoration of the rest.

You also can do it. While you do that day job, you can do some work for the Lord to glorify His name. Hallelujah!

  1. Glory be to God for His faithfulness to those who trust in Him.
Jesus called His disciples and gave them the power to preach and do miracles. If you have not been discipled and continue growing in Christ, He can’t empower you to do any miracle.

    1. Mark 16: 17-18 says “And these signs shall follow them THAT BELIEVE; In my name shall they cast out devils; they shall speak with new tongues; They shall take up serpents; and if they drink any deadly thing, it shall not hurt them; they shall lay hands on the sick, and they shall recover.”

Those that believe. Anyone that believes can do the miracles.

  2. God works in marvelous ways. He gives us gifts to help people. Since the mentally ill could get saved and restored then we as Christians should do it. We have Christ in us to show us and lead the way.

  4. Amazingly!!!
    Jesus is forever Lord!!
I thank God for the great work of restoring minds and saving their souls.
If you have never been a care giver or directly related to such, you may not appreciate fully what God did through our brother.
I have been there, God bless you and your descendants for your obedience to visit such homes.

We stigmatize mental health patients as though some sicknesses are of more value than others, but not all are the works of the enemy.
God bless you as you follow up sir.
I’m encouraged to be gentle and bold at the same time to step out in faith.
