“Some people are good because they can’t afford to be bad.”
– Billy Graham
When I heard that, it got me thinking. He further explained that some people are still good because the habits that can get them to derail are expensive! Thank God for the high cost of those habits! Devil’s habits are expensive. Glory be to God! The gift of God is free! It comes simply by your faith in His words.
Looking at that statement, it’s like saying “If you have all the money, all the influence, all the power you want in this world, will you still have time and passion for God?”
Will you still go to fellowship with the brethren? Will you still have time to listen to the Word of God? Will you still have time to get up early and seek Him? That is if you are even seeking Him now! Will you still have time to call on Him to help you?
Or your problem will be different now? Okay, will you still have time to acknowledge Him in all your ways? Will you still create time to fellowship with Him?
Or you will go haywire! All over the world, screaming “I’m living the life!”
Or you will find new habits that draw you farther and farther away from Jesus?
I ask: are you good now because you can’t afford the cost of being bad? Or you are bad because you can afford it? Either way, the scripture in Romans 12:1 encourages us. Wealth or no wealth; influence or no influence, power or no power, we are to be good like our Father. We are to keep loving the Lord. Strong in fellowship.
“I appeal to you therefore, brethren, and beg of you in view of [all] the mercies of God, to make a decisive dedication of your bodies [presenting all your members and faculties] as a living sacrifice, holy (devoted, consecrated) and well pleasing to God, which is your reasonable (rational, intelligent) service and spiritual worship.” – Romans 12:1 AMPC
When you gain the whole world or little world, don’t loose your soul in the revelry of riches. Don’t loose it!
Remember the Lord your God that drew you out of the miry clay and set you upon the high places. Give honour to Him. Forget not His loving kindness that exalts you. Close not the door of your heart to Him that you cried unto day and night until He elevated you.
Don’t walk away from Him. Just imagine the goodness of God in your life. He won’t let you go. Don’t let go of Him either. Let His goodness well up inside you forever. Don’t let go of Him for He said He will never leave you nor forsake you. Hebrews 13:5
Let the love of God constrain you. Let it constrain you. 2 Corinthians 5:14. Call that brother or that sister that you know is burning with the fire of the Holy Spirit. Let him/her pray with you. Tell God to restore you. Go back to the Father. Go back! Don’t stay outside His love. Go back to the fellowship with the brethren. There is no shame but love. You are His.
Let the fire burn again like wildfire in your heart. Burn for God. Wealth or no wealth, we will burn for God! That is our declaration. We have tasted of the goodness of the Lord, we will burn for Him! Hallelujah! Glory to God!!
